High School Sailing

The Golden Isles has three high schools, Brunswick High, Glynn Academy, and Frederica Academy that have sailing teams. The teams compete in Club 420 sailboats in the South Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Association (SAISA) http://www.saisa.org/. The Golden Isles Sailing Club supports the high school sailing programs financially and through coaching, boat repair and maintenance, regatta organization and numerous other details associated with competitive sailing and young people. The Brunswick High, Glynn Academy, and Frederica Academy teams often train, travel and practice together, but compete as separate teams. Their training waters are in the East and Turtle Rivers. One of the goals of the Golden Isles Sailing Club is to support area high school sailing programs in an effort to expand interest in sailing to future generations.

Volunteers are needed to assist in nurturing the sailing program. Club members are asked to get involved!  There is a real need for people to coach, mentor and help administrate the program. If you would like to get involved please contact: Pam Heine pjheine@bellsouth.net or David Heine  dwheine@bellsouth.net.
